A posted scope can be any part of this. The more of it the drawings settle up front, the closer the bids come back to each other.

Wood framing — walls, floors and roofs
Light-gauge metal stud framing, load-bearing and non-structural
Shear walls, hold-downs and structural hardware

What to check before you award

Crew size against your schedule: Framing duration is a labour question, not a drawings question. Ask how many framers will actually be on site and for how long — it predicts your schedule far better than the bid total does.
Experience with the specific system: A Type III podium build, load-bearing light-gauge and a single-family tract job are different trades wearing the same name. Ask what they framed last, not just how long they've been framing.
Whether crane and truss setting are included: Crane time is expensive enough to swing a bid comparison on its own, and it is frequently excluded quietly.

What makes a bid win this trade

State labour-only versus material supply: It is the largest single variable between framing bids and the fastest way for a GC to end up comparing two numbers that were never comparable.
Include the blocking schedule: Backing for casework, grab bars, TVs and equipment is the classic missed framing scope — discovered by the drywall contractor, at the worst possible moment. Listing it wins trust cheaply.
Commit to a crew count: Putting your crew size and start date in the bid answers the GC's real question before they have to ask it.
