Concrete bids diverge on what's included long before they diverge on price — forming, reinforcing, placement and finishing are sometimes one contractor and sometimes four. A posted scope can be any part of this. The more of it the drawings settle up front, the closer the bids come back to each other.

Footings, foundation walls and grade beams
Slab-on-grade, including vapour barrier and reinforcement
Tilt-up panel casting and erection

Hiring concrete crews

What to check before you award

How much of it they self-perform: Forming, rebar, placement and finishing are four different crews. Knowing which the contractor does themselves and which they sublet tells you where the schedule risk sits and who you will actually be talking to on site.
Whether they can hit the specified F-numbers: Floor flatness and levelness tolerances are the specification that most often gets missed on a warehouse slab, and remediating a slab that fails FF/FL is expensive and slow. Ask for the last job they hit that spec on.
Certified finishers on site: ACI flatwork certification is held by individuals, not companies. What matters is whether a certified finisher is on the pour, not whether the letterhead mentions ACI.

What makes a bid win this trade

Quote the tolerance you're pricing: State the FF/FL numbers your price assumes. If the spec is tighter than your bid, everyone finds out now instead of after the pour — and GCs remember which bidder raised it.
Separate reinforcement supply from placement: Rebar supply, rebar placement and embeds are the three lines most often assumed to be someone else's. Break them out.
Price the weather protection: Cold-weather blankets, heated enclosures and hot-weather retarders are real costs on a real schedule. Carrying them visibly is better than absorbing them invisibly.
